Prior to serving on the Board, Moder was a founding teacher and administrator for MusicAlliance. She served as the director of bands at St. Christopher School and Saints Joseph and John Interparochial School. Her duties included teaching instrumental music in grades four through eight, instructing students in small group instrument lessons, conducting beginner, intermediate, and advanced band rehearsals, and preparing students to perform as soloists and in small ensembles as well as in the full band setting at concerts. Moder strongly believes in the importance of having a strong teaching background and in the ability to motivate and communicate effectively with students. As an adminstrator for MusicAlliance, Moder was responsible for new teacher orientation, teacher observation and evaluation, and served as the Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC) chair for the organization. In addition, she was a co-director and organizer of the MusicAlliance summer and winter honor bands, and helped students to prepare for the annual honor band auditions. Prior to her employment with MusicAlliance, Moder was with Musical Youth, Inc. for twelve years - serving as an elementary and junior high parochial school band director and administrator in northeast Ohio. She was honored as the Musical Youth New Teacher of the Year, the Musical Youth Positive Teacher of the Year, and the Musical Youth Professional Teacher of the Year. Moder has maintained a private instrumental music lesson studio, was assistant conductor of the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony II, and served as the host of several Cleveland West Side Catholic Schools Band Festivals. She is a member of the Music Educators National Conference and Ohio Music Education Association, and is also a recipient of the Doris Hartsock Award for Excellence in Education.
